A gardening program, to promote creation of family and community gardens, will kick off an Elkhart County initiative aimed at combating the effects of the recession.

I was in the San Francisco Bay area this past weekend and stumbled upon an Earth Day celebration in Berkeley. The Berkeley Community Gardening Collaborative was represented there.
It was great to see another gardening project similar to the one in Elkhart County. Of course, the ones in Berkeley started in the 60’s and has many school gardens, non-profit gardens, community gardens, training gardens and more. Maybe someday Goshen/Elkhart will be like Berkeley.
