At times I swear it seemed like you were in ten places at once!! Thank you for making my time of unemployment and uncertainty better and brighter. You have always made me feel welcome at ECWT, and I will never forget that. You made it easier for me to take those first steps out of my "own space to gain the gifts that are out there" and I am better for having known you. You rock MJ! (We also welcome people to work with us who don't have a mental illness.) We have been telling the story of our vision wherever we can get an audience. The enthusiastic responses we've been receiving give me reason to hope that we will be able to accomplish this goal, impossible as it seems in these economic times. Certainly the need for such an effort is all the greater, given the many people who are immersed in the struggle you tell about. Our vision is a community of recovery, hope, and dignity that empowers people with mental illness through friendship, meaningful work, and cultivation of strengths. Many times my answer to "how you doing" is little more than a downward glance and a shrug of the shoulders. "Could be worse" sometimes follows. It is tough, but I feel great! Your statement places an emphasis on our individual tax contributions as being more than just Uncle Sam's chunk of our paychecks. Those dollars are our contribution, our collective resource. Shouldn't it be used for a collective purpose? Investing in the U.S infrastructure is a fine example of this. Create jobs, create money, re-establish our economy- stronger and wiser hopefully.
