MJ- You always manage to put your thoughts into words so well, and never seemed to have an incomplete idea... a trait that I am still trying to pick up ;)

Whenever we were pushing a deadline it seemed that you were always there making sure things were done. At times I swear it seemed like you were in ten places at once!!

Thank you for making my time of unemployment and uncertainty better and brighter. You have always made me feel welcome at ECWT, and I will never forget that. You made it easier for me to take those first steps out of my "own space to gain the gifts that are out there" and I am better for having known you.

You rock MJ!

Some of us who live with depression or another mental illness are cultivating hope through our efforts to start a clubhouse in Elkhart County for people with persistent mental illness. (We also welcome people to work with us who don't have a mental illness.) We have been telling the story of our vision wherever we can get an audience. The enthusiastic responses we've been receiving give me reason to hope that we will be able to accomplish this goal, impossible as it seems in these economic times. Certainly the need for such an effort is all the greater, given the many people who are immersed in the struggle you tell about. Our vision is a community of recovery, hope, and dignity that empowers people with mental illness through friendship, meaningful work, and cultivation of strengths. If you visit our website (http://ec-clubhouse.adnetonline.org/) and you are inspired by what you see, be in touch. We could use your help! -- Christine Guth

What an honor to be part of this group of people! And the many other ECWT folks who weren't there. And the thousands of other folks in Elkhart County who are working together in their own way.

Now this is the kind of story I would like to see published in our local newspapers, instead of all the gloom and doom forecasters. This is exactly the kind of grassroots program (not government) that we should all be able to get behind. Keep up the good work, and let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I have tools if someone needs them to do a job. Thanks again for your efforts. Stacey

Great story! I love how all the pieces come together. Our lives are so intertwined, especially when we choose to participate in our community!

Now that is a story to lift the spirits. It is hard to read this note and not begin to wonder how each of our lives become interconnected in the most casual, yet profound ways.

The idea and excitement are spreading rapidly. Arriba amigos y amigas! Much interest is already being shown by individuals and groups. A couple of people have already stepped forward to help pull this off. Why not you? Resourcing this event with committed people like you is what makes this great community what it is. Fiesta con Salsa!

Well said! Many times my answer to "how you doing" is little more than a downward glance and a shrug of the shoulders. "Could be worse" sometimes follows. It is tough, but I feel great! Being shoved out of the trailer factory has been the push needed to really evaluate where I am and where I want to be. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.

I really like this line: <em>"How can we best use our collective resources (government money) and individual resources (private capital) to work for the public good?"</em> It made me think of our tax dollars in a way that I never have- as something more than "Gov't money". Your statement places an emphasis on our individual tax contributions as being more than just Uncle Sam's chunk of our paychecks. Those dollars are our contribution, our collective resource. Shouldn't it be used for a collective purpose? Investing in the U.S infrastructure is a fine example of this. Create jobs, create money, re-establish our economy- stronger and wiser hopefully.
