Welcome to the ECWT Skills Bank

Thousands of people in Elkhart County have seen their employment disappear in the last year and a half, and have not been able to find another position to take its place. These are people with skills and creativity that could be shared with our community. They want to work and earn money to support their families, so that their basic needs can be met. The ECWT Skills Bank is here to help, but does not completely replace the jobs these members of our community still need. The Skills Bank is simply a way for us, as a community, to provide work for people who need work.

Some of these unemployed are our friends, neighbors, family members, or people who worship with us. Some of them are people we have never met. However, they are all members of our community who have abilities and skills to share.

If we can find a way to generate work for the unemployed members of our community during this time of great need, we may be able to help a family avoid foreclosure on their house. We may be able to help a family pay their heating bill this winter. We can even help local businesses by revitalizing the circulation of money into our local economy. When we generate work, we send a tangible expression of love and compassion to members of our community who may feel that they have been left behind and scuttled to the edges of our community.
